Mommy

Mommy thinks that good food is very important. I guess all chinese think the same. And now that I am married, she is perpectually worried that I might not be eating healthy.

In my daily phone calls to her, she would often ask if I have taken my lunch and what I ate. Always reminding me to make that trip to the grocery to get Japanese purple sweet potato to steam for breakfast. Reminding me to drink enough water, especially if I am running that evening. Am I using olive oil for cooking? Eating enough fruits?

Recently I find that she has advanced to an even higher level. I visit mom's place every Friday for dinner. Somehow for the past two months, there has always been impossible strange amounts of well-packed "left-overs" after the Friday dinners for me to bring home. And often it would be one person's meal portion of vegetarian food for me and a person's meal portion of meat dishes for my hubs. Just nice for the two of us to have a wholesome meal at home over the weekend. Quietly I know that these were not left by chance.

Aren't mommies the greatest?

:) I really have to agree. When I was in Wuxi, the locals there were constantly worried the food wasn't to our liking, that we weren't eating enough, etc... haha

My parents too. My dad's always asking if I need food... which kinda explains my expanding waistline. :)

Have a great Sunday Karen!

Your mummy's so good to you both. I agree it is important for you to eat well especially since you're running so much. My dad knows I like to eat sweet potatoes and pumpkin and he would steam extra for me when I am around. His daily breakfast every morning is a big heap of steamed sweetcorn, sweet potato, pumpkin and yam. We're all turning yellow from all the beta carotene!

they certainly are! my daughter has been out of the house now for about four years. i still ask her if she's eating well, what is she eating, how much is she eating, etc. a mother is a mother for life and regardless of how old your child is, you still worry. and when she comes to visit, she also leaves with cooked food that will sustain her for a couple of days.

i guess mommies are all the same the world round.... :)

Very nice of your mom! My mom still packs me leftovers, too, plus she gives me instructions, such as remove the foil before microwaving... LOL
