Choosing What I See

Ringgggg....! The most hated sound to hear. Cursing the inventor of the alarm clock while I pulled myself from my soft, comfy bed. I still had difficulty keeping my eyes open as I stood below the warm shower. Spending a good five minutes in front of my wardrobe deciding what to wear. Black and blue must be avoided at all costs.

Every inch of my face screamed reluctance of going to work. Something that no makeup could cover. Not even that white eye-shadow I recently bought that everyone raved about that it could "illuminate" one's looks immediately. My hair looked lifeless and clamy. Even that expensive hair wax failed to add any bounce to it. Oh hack! It was the best I could do.

Leaving the house (what a miracle! I actually managed to leave house on time!) after making a simple peanut butter and cheese sandwich for my breakfast, I rushed off for the bus stop. More dark clouds loomed over me as I reached the bus-stop, the big crowd of Republic Polytechnic students (easily identified with their funky ,laidback attire and notebooks in colourful casings) stood out prominently. Damn it! Can I squeeze up that bus?

Oh well, so what if I were late for work? I could not outbeat those students to squeeze up the first bus that came. Grumpily I sat down and waited for a good ten minutes before the second bus came. As each minute passed, my impatience grew exponentially.

When the second bus came, I finally woke up to the idea that I had to get to work somehow. I placed myself at the strategic position that the entrance of the bus would most likely be when it came to a stop. I was close to smiling when the entrance really stopped right in front of me when I was pushed back by a guy with a giant backpack. The next I knew, I felt a sharp pain on my left big toe. If eyes could kill, mine would have murdered him there and then. It was not only the pain that pained me. He had chipped the french pedicure that I meticulously painted on last week!

As expected, I reached office half an hour late and hoping that I could leave early tonight. It's the usual Black Monday!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ringggg...! Up and shine! It's a brand new work week! I jumped out of my bed after planting a kiss on the temple of my husband. I like to wake up to some nice soft music and I did exactly that while I undressed and stepped into the warm shower. The skies were still dark and I could smell the freshness of the morning while I hum to the tune of the music. In the silence of the morning, the chirpings of the early birds sounded so refreshing and endearing.
Bright lively colours in dressing would add life and vitality to the new week. I chose a white top with turtle-neck and a green drop-waist dress.
I could not wait to put on my makeup as I had just purchased a new colour for eye-shadow just the week before. I had read about how using a tint of white can add liveliness to the eyes. I complemented a stroke of green eye shadow to match my outfit. After I had put on my soft-red lip colour, I stood back and smiled at myself! Water, you are up to anything this week! You can do it!
After giving some water to my favourite plant, I made myself a simple peanut butter and cheese sandwich for my breakfast. I also made a cup of extra thick and milky tea for hubs to drink when he woke up.
After putting on my favourite scent from Boss, I left for work.
The bus-stop was crowded with everyone eager to start the new work (study) week. I did not want to squeeze up the first bus that came along. Sitting down and still humming to myself, I waited for the next bus to come. This must be a lucky week for me, for the next bus came only ten minutes later! I did get up this bus, but was very apologetic that a guy nearly lost his balance after stepping on my big toe. Thank goodness he did not!
I reached the office half an hour late. Thank God! The boss was not here yet! Yippee! I quickly turned on my notebook to start work. With concentration and efficiently, I should leave work on time today. What a Beautiful Monday!
Oh, this is priceless! I wish I had thought to write a post like this. And today would have been the perfect day to do it, as I found myself making poor choices.
What a striking reminder that we do have a choie in how we perceive.
Hugs,
Betty
Hallos Surjit,
Good to see you. If we are the master of our own thoughts well, everyday will indeed be a wonderful day.
It's good to see you.
Have a Blessed Week Ahead!
Hi Betty,
It's good to see you. I love the pictures you are putting up in all your posts. Awesome!
Indeed we can make a conscious effort to teach ourselves what to see in life. It doesn't have to be all Maryanne super optimistic. But we can tweak our own thinking to be less affected by many circumstances in life really beyond our control.
Blessings!
