5 Things You Don't Know About WaterLearner

I was tagged by Sam about two weeks ago to do a 5 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me Meme. Yeah, Sam, I did not forget alright! :-) Have been trying to find time to do it all along. Enough of excuses that the inner devil inside me is trying to defend my huge ego. Here are my five things you probably don't know:
1) My Godson - Oliver

Oliver is the son of my good friend, Sophia. I have known Sophia for more than 10 years! He is coming to a year old soon. Such a charming little thing is he not?
**
2) The Doodler
*
I doodle a lot. When I am stressed or when I have nothing to do. While I am on the phone, or when I am trying to solve some problems ... I get inspiration from doodling. When I am into creating some serious works, I normally use pencils. More often than not, I use Pilot V5 pens that I have in quite a few colours on my work desk
*
I used to practice Chinese Calligraphy. More as a training to still my mind than as an art.
*
3) Current Pastime - My Virtual Escapade
*
I am quite addicted to PSP. Blanca (the white one) was a gift from my husband (then, boyfriend) more than one year ago. From where I used to live on the eastern side of Singapore, it took me one hour on the public bus to get to my workplace on the northern side of Singapore, daily. He gave me Blanca to keep me occupied and to make the two trips a day more bearable. It really did help. Blackie (the black one) belongs to my hubby. He only bought one for himself half a year ago.
*
4) Fear of Water
*
I have received feedback from some readers who mistaken my blog to be that of a swimming instructor. WaterLearner? Why WaterLearner?
*
I once read in the Chinese Classics, Dao De Jing, that Water has many virtues. In one of the chapters, it was written:
*
"The highest goodness resembles water. Water greatly benefits myriad things without contention. It stays in places that people dislike..."
*
Despite adopting WaterLearner as my avatar, I have fear for deep waters. I nearly drowned while I was swimming in a pool in my teens due to cramps. Since then, I have always had this fear in me. I still swim though. But WaterLearner has no courage to face deep waters.
*
5) Clumsy Hiker in the Forest of Life
*
As much as it is Awareness that I am often writing about in my humble blog, I am extremely far from enlightenment of any kind. Dark wars inside me are faced and battled everyday between my untrained Awareness and this very strong selfish opponent called Ego.
*
At times when my reaction appears somewhat slow, somewhat clumsy, or I carry a out-of-this-world-look .. such are very likely moments of battling between my Awareness and Ego. Before emergence of a victor, to the outside world, I appear to be on a Pause-Mode.
*
So .. My five things are done. I would love to know more about the following fabulous bloggers. And do remember, it must be something that most do not know about you. Yeah!
*
A Note to those I have tagged:
No time to do it? .... Never Mind. I understand :-)

Hi Karen! Wow, I have read Lao Tzu's great book hundreds of times and it is the basis for all of my life's philosophies!!!!!

Your Godson Oliver is a cute little guy:)

Thanks for the tag Karen, I don't know exactly when I'll do it but I will! As always you add a nice bit of philosophical insight!

Karen, little Oliver has lots of hair, I love his unique hairstyle. His fringe there looks so cute :)

The first time I came across your blog, I thought you are a swimming instructress too. Thanks for the explanation there. I've done so much meme about myself I think most already knew & tired of hearing from me. I've all been "revealed" basically...!!
Mebbe you can tell me what you want to hear from me, I think that would be better? Thanks, Karen!! I love reading yours :)

HEY, Karen!

I have fear for deep waters as well. I nearly drowned when I tried to do the "standing" style of swimming in the deep side of the pool when I was learning to swim. That really scared me he he he...

I MISS Singapore!!! I love the city though I've only been there once, but it was so easy to go anywhere and it was so clean, too. And I can find SO many different Chinese food that tastes like the food I eat back in Indo HE HE HE HE HE...Similar tastes! YUM YUM!!!

Hi Karen,

I am glad to know more about you after reading this post.

Your Godson Oliver is indeed a cute little guy! And you are really talented in the art of calligraphy! I also thought you are a swimming instructor looking at your blog name. Thanks for revealing more about you Karen.

Have a nice weekend.
Best Wishes.

Hi Water Learner,
It is great to know more about you.
your godson is such a cute.
God bless.

WaterLearner said...

Hi Bobby!

Take your time to do this. You also read Lao Tze? That is great!! I really love his works as well. He sees life in such out-of-this-world yet optimistic manner.

Write something in your good blog on his works ok?

Blessings & Have a Good Weekend Bobby!

WaterLearner said...

Haha Jan!!

I know that your life has been "totally exposed" in your good blog liao lor. Every week, where you go, how you dote on your little darlings, your hubbs go HongKong to work and you miss him, ...everything we know liao lor.

What to do, we are your paparazzi. Haunting you down in your good blog what!!

WaterLearner said...

Hey Sam,

No worries. Thanks for reading my humble post.

Good Weekend to you!!

WaterLearner said...

Hi Jesse!

Haha .. So it's true that WaterLearner is indeed a very misleading avatar to have huh?

Think someone who is really a swim instructor will curse me for taking up this avatar with no real quality?

Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate it.

WaterLearner said...

Jean!!!

Oh my .. I am so honoured to see your comments. So long some more!! You have been MIA this week leh. All of us missing you and leaving traces that we do so all over everyone's blog leh.

Busy with work is it? Well being busy is a good sign. Good Luck!

Yeah, Oliver is really a very cute little thing.

Take your time to do. I understand.

Have a Good Restful Weekend!

WaterLearner said...

Hi Amel,

You had the same dreadful experience? Oh, then you are the best person to understand this fear in me that I just can't shake off. Most people can't understand this, since I can swim.

Well, I just hope they never need to go through such a horrible experience.

Singapore is a Food and Shopper's Paradise. So if the above delights you, naturally you will adore this Sunshine Island!

WaterLearner said...

Hey Marzie,

Your favourite post? Oh my! I am so happy to hear that!

Yeah, WaterLearner is a very misleading avatar. Hence I thought of using this opportunity to clear some common "misunderstandings"?

Nice Day to you Genie Princess!

WaterLearner said...

Hi Sam!

Sorry huh... For taking so long to fulfil this task. Yeah Oliver is really adorable. Coming to a year very soon.

And yes, you are probably the nth person to think I am a swimming instructor. Hee Hee ..

Good Weekend to you Sam!

WaterLearner said...

Judy,

You doodle also? Show me! Show me!!

BTW, how's your blogrush application? Did my email help? You could also seek help from Bobby. He is an expert and so very will to help. One Charming Guy he is!

Blessing to you Judy. Have fun in Europe. Take more pics...of yourself to show us!

WaterLearner said...

Kee Yit!

No Probs. Tell me what you want?
A signature of your name or your good blog?

Let me know ok!

Good Weekend Gal!

WaterLearner said...

Hi Lili,

I am glad you see a reflection of yourself in my shallow blog. I really feel honoured hearing that!

Have a Great Weekend Lili!

WaterLearner said...

Surjit!

Not fair. I have not forgotten .. Your refused to put up a picture of yourself even though I persistently asked for it!

Good Weekend to our Good Surjit!

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate it!

J@n!ce said...

karen, its scary now that everything of my life are exposed through my humble blog... I think I got to reserve a bit lah... :)

WaterLearner said...

Haha Jan,

I oppose leh .. Your blog is genuine and original in this way. It's most natural for a mummy to dote on her little ones and to miss her hubbs when he is away! Your blog is a star in this manner!

Good Weekend Jan! I am just back from East Coast. So packed there today. Kids carrying lanterns.

keeyit said...

Hi dear,

For my blog, keeyit's wonderful life.

Thanks in advanced.

WaterLearner said...

Hi Kee Yit!

I will work on it as soon as possible. :-)

Blessings!

Mariuca said...

Indeed, u did a good job of clearing up that lil bit of "misunderstanding". I am having a great week so far and I hope u are too! :):):)

WaterLearner said...

Haha Marzie!

You are right! It's becoming the misunderstanding of EVERY first time visitor to my blog.

Do you think I should edit my profile to say I am not a Swimming Instructor? Hee Hee...

Good Day Marzie! How's your fasting month so far? I always admire muslims able to do it every year :-)

Hi Karen, sorry for the late reply. Thanks for tagging. I owe so many tags that i begin losing count of them. Some of them really need a long time to think. Sorry, i am a thinker, i like to think long before i do (hence sometime perceive to be slow LOL). Will do it soonest. Give me some time hor. Thinking.......

oh yeah, I am a reserve person so this tag may take a long time (hehe)perhaps will show some photo of my son (not online) when Karen or Janice organise a Karen/Janice's blogger network summit or something. LOL

Your Godson is so cute!

About the doodle, like Kee Yit, can do one for Project Heavy Traffic?

oh oh. I loves PSP, i am into handheld games like DS, PSP, computer games. I seldom play as much nowadays as i spend much time playing with my son.

WaterLearner, a swimming instructor?? LOL. come to think of it, water itself like you said is very philosophical. It deep transfomation power. Water simbolises life. A lot of ancient civilisation is built near water source. (BTW, Civilization is one of my all time favourite game!)

Don't worry, i was perceived to be clumsy too (ironically because i was too careful). Anyone looking forward to do this similar tag. Cheers!

WaterLearner said...

Hi MT!

I would love to do something for you like what I had done for Kee Yit! It's a pleasure for me to draw. My passion since young.I would do one for Project Heavy Traffic.

Take your time in doing the tag. I am also quite behind time in completing my tags. At times, very unfortunately, I am forced to forego some. My apologies to my valued blogger pals who was so gracious to tag me!

Haha! I share the same aspect with you in the sense that I would give ample thinking before completing a tag. In this aspect, I am a genuine Grade Clumsy!

Blessings to you. Good Luck to your site MT!
